Miami International University of Art & Design Celebrates 50 Years

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Miami International University of Art & Design (MIU), a university accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The University offers associate’s, bachelor’s and graduate degree programs in the creative fields of Design, Media Arts and Fashion.

“Our curriculum is tailored to the needs of the job market,” said MIU President Erika Fleming. “MIU sets itself apart in several ways: hiring industry experienced faculty still working in their fields; having relevant curriculums with input from Advisory Boards comprised of employers and industry experts; offering our students hands-on experience with current software technology and industry experience through required internships; and maintaining small class sizes. With an average of less than 20 students per class, this ensures personalized attention for every student.”

Miami International University of Art & Design attracts students to study in the heart of Miami’s increasingly popular art scene. The city is host to the world famous Art Basel / Miami Art Week, museums, performing art centers, and Fashion Week (including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Miami Swim Week). This multicultural metropolis is a hotbed for emerging artists.

The university is dedicated to the needs of its diverse population. Over 20% of the student body is comprised of international students coming from over 60 countries, including many from Brazil.

Miami International University of Art & Design has a dedicated and experienced staff of International Student Advisors to assist in all immigration services for students. Students may participate in one of the many student organizations such as International Club, Interior Design Group, Advertising Club, Music Production,Veterans Club, Web Club, and Backstage Films Club.
